Local Coordinators are responsible for: Screening, interviewing and selecting host families, pre-arrival orientation, liaising with the high school, supervising and supporting families and students, sending bi-monthly student reports to the national office, based on (at least) monthly student visits and communications with host families and high schools. They provide emergency assistance to the AYA student, host family and high school (should it be required. They receive ongoing instruction and direction from the Academic Year in America National office and attend annual training sessions. Interested in being a Local Coordinator?
