Academic Year in America

Host a Foreign Exchange Student

Benefits of Enrollment

Why enroll an AYA Student?

  • Tony Cook Memorial Grant – All AYA high schools are invited each year to submit an application outlining a program or project to further international education in their school, to receive a $1000 grant. 20 grants were awarded in 2009 and 2010.
  • Scholarships – To encourage American students to participate in international exchange and travel programs, all AYA high schools are eligible to receive an annual scholarship that can be awarded to a worthy student from the school community.  These scholarships can be applied to opportunities within the AIFS family of programs:
    • AIFS College Study Abroad - College students can spend a summer, semester or academic year at a university overseas.  Choose from 20 campuses in 13 countries.
    • ACIS - Specializing in teacher organized trips abroad, ACIS provides opportunities for groups to travel to Europe, Asia or Australia for 9 to 42 days.

The foreign exchange students bring such a positive atmosphere to our school. They show our students what it means to take academics seriously. 95% of the students that attend our school (11 this year) are in the honors and advanced courses with A’s and B’s. They are truly a joy to have at our school and we welcome them.
